We form authentic and sustained relationships with farmers and producers local to Colombia. Being based in Colombia means we are able to personally visit our sources and verify their quality. This also means we have the ability to source unique artisan products in Colombia because of our position and relationships there. Being able to meet and speak to producers consistently in person is something most large sourcing companies cannot do.

Gregory Patterson
Gregory Patterson, the founder of Merchants of the Americas, is a natural born explorer and a disabled veteran of the United States Marine Corp. After his retirement, he dedicated the next 10 years of his life to finding and forming relationships with different food product manufacturers in Central America, especially Colombia and Guatemala. During this time in Central America, Gregory met his now wife and business partner, Angela Rivera Patterson. The connections and relationships Gregory formed led to him founding this company, which is dedicated to importing high quality products into the United States. He then created a top notch quality control and logistics team in order to guarantee on time delivery and perfect quality in our shipments. Gregory’s dedication to sourcing only the best food products in his area is what has allowed us here at Merchants of the Americas to continue to import excellent Central American products straight from farmers and producers into the United States for you to use an enjoy.
Angela Rivera Patterson
Angela Rivera Patterson, a native Colombian, is a professional in Chemical Engineering with 30 years of experience in food and has extensive experience in product and supplier development for the United States market in accordance with FDA regulations. Angela is a certified preventative controls qualified individual and foreign supplier verifier, which means she is an expert in supply chain coordination, risk management, and food safety. From Angela’s upbringing in Colombia and her affiliation with the Department of Agriculture in her state of Caldas, Colombia, she was able to create many connections with local farmers and producers whose products we import into the United States.
